Ten years ago, a small, scruffy stray cat strutted into our lives, picking fights with our other cats and boldly marking her territory in our backyard. At first, she was untouchable, elusive—always keeping her distance. My daughter, enchanted by her captivating eyes, named her Bella, declaring her the “Bella of the Ball.”

I was working at a veterinary hospital at the time, and we used a humane trap to bring her in for vaccinations. It was just the beginning of a months-long journey to gain her trust. With patience, love, and endless catnip, Bella slowly let her guard down. She transitioned from a wary stray to an irreplaceable member of our family.

Bella Today: The Heartbeat at Our Feet

Today, Bella is a cat full of quirks, a reflection of her hard-knock life as a stray. While she’s still a bit timid, she has become our cuddle aficionado, always seeking and demanding warm laps and loving strokes from her human family. Bella is a stoic and calming presence in our lives. She loves the simple things: bird-watching from our patio, basking in the sunshine, and savoring her catnip. Every morning, like clockwork, she accompanies me as I drink my herbal tea.

The Challenge: Bella’s Health Crisis

In June, our sweet Bella took a turn for the worse. Blood tests revealed abnormal liver values and potential signs of hyperthyroidism. She’s also been battling recurring urinary issues. The most alarming sign, however, is her drastic weight loss—Bella has lost 5lbs, and her behavior is noticeably changing. She needs immediate blood work, imaging, and potentially a specialized treatment plan to get back to her healthy self.
